One of my daughters’ friends lives in a haunted house. They’ve asked me a few questions about the entities they’ve seen there. For the past ten years this family has lived there, the friend has seen a man in a long black robe with the hood over his head. He presents as all black, and sometimes they can see the singed fringe of the robe sleeves and burned, blackened fingers beneath the fringe.

Sometimes, if you are hyper-empathic, you have too much imput, too much energy bombarding you. It becomes difficult to recognize if it is your own feelings or emotions, or some one else’s. It is difficult to go to public places, or to interact with friends and relatives. (See “Emotional Empath: Is This You?“)

Other people have issues with too many spirits contacting them — sometimes pestering them. Some make it seem so important to help them with some earthly task.

So I have been sharing a special technique that has helped so many people in the past few years. It may seem silly, but to those that are plagued with these hyper-empathic or super-sensitive issues, it makes a major change in how they live their lives.

SUPERHERO SUIT TECHNIQUE

Pick out a super hero that you resonate with. Let’s say it is Superman (my personal favorite). When you wake up in the morning, sit on the side of the bed. Have the intention of putting on a superman suit. Pretend to pull on the tights. Then the stretchy body suit, with sleeves. Snap or zip up the wrist area. Pull on tight gloves and stretchy helmut-type hat. You might even want to put on the face mask, but I don’t know that it is as important.

By doing this, you are intentionally pulling your subtle bodies close to you. (again, the article on Subtle Bodies will help you understand all the details.) But the important thing is that it creates a protection and closure needed to stop connecting with outside energies. Also, lower level spirit beings will not be able to interfer with your day. They will understand that you are taking control of your own energy!

Some people create variations on this technique, but I would follow this pretty close, until you feel comfortable with it and realize that there is a benefit to doing it.

I am sharing bits and pieces of the writing of the book I will probably call Guiding Psychic Kids, Does Your Child See Sparkles? Helping Parents that Have Paranormal Families.

The book actually started because of the awesome response to one blog post I had several years ago. It was a question from a mother that found me by an internet search along with the answer I gave her. She was trying to find out if her daughter was really seeing sparkles and if that was normal. One thing led to another, and here is a full blown book in the making. I believe there is a need for this information, and am blessed to be given insight by my spirit guides regarding paranormal and empathic events with children and their families.

Here is the beginning of Chapter 2, Maintaining a Safety Net. It is a rough draft of some of the information I am including in the Psychic Kids book that I am writing. (For part one of the book go to Subtle Bodies, Guiding Psychic Kids Blog)

Chapter 2 — Maintain a Safety Net

Centering, grounding, and protections

~~Another key to raising healthy psychic children is to help them become aware of their energy, and to recognize when their finely tuned systems are ungrounded or processing the psychic stuff around them. Some simple energy tools, practiced daily, usually do the trick.

Centering, grounding, and protection tools:

• Grounding~~ One of the first things to do is to have them create an image that connects their body to the center of Mother Earth. This gives kids a sense that they are rooted and plugged in during their day.

This gives a feeling of being in the body (!). They have a place to send stuck or pent-up energy, instead of it bouncing off the walls.  Have them create a tree trunk, a bean stalk—or any fun image that works for them—and have it come out of the bottom of their feet all the way down through the floor and deep into Mother Earth. Most of us in the modern world have forgotten our deep connection to the planet. A “grounding cord” is a good solid reminder that we are always in communication with the earth below.

• Having kids become aware of the energy bubble all around them is also beneficial. Their bubble—or aura—defines the space around their body and is a direct reflection of what is going on inside. If their bubble is vibrating at a color that isn’t in harmony with them at the moment, they can decide to change it if they want. They can pick a color that is fun for them and change the color for different activities. This is not only a fun game for them, but also helps them get to know their own energy.

Help them appreciate that they are in control, and responsible for their own body and energy. They can also clean their bubble with a magic sponge and make their bubble bigger or smaller so it’s the right size just for them.

• Kids need to know how very sacred their bodies are (I call it the body temple) and how lucky they are to be here, experiencing life from the limitless wisdom of their body. But getting kids to get inside their bodies, even for just a moment, can be challenging to say the least!

All kids are psychic, and you may feel a big responsibility on your shoulders just with this realization. But remember that in any case, kids are kids no matter what. Your job as a parent is simply to support them, give them love, encourage them to be who they are, and remind them often that they are much bigger than what the outside world often makes of them.

I’m working on a chapter that will help parents understand why their child is so sensitive, or empathic. And it all boils down to the subtle bodies that reside in the aura (energy field around the physical body). During the normal process of unfoldment for mediumship, we learn how to open our subtle bodies, which opens a pathway, allowing the spirit to connect and commune with us. But many people who are hyper-empathic, such as our young psychic kids and young adults, already have their subtle bodies wide open all the time, not realizing it or knowing what to do about it.

Here is a section of the book I am writing now about subtle bodies:

To understand why kids these days are hyper empathic and totally open to psychic phenomena, such as prophetic dreams, seeing or hearing spirits or ghosts, or knowing the future, I need to open the topic of subtle bodies. Also, an explanation of how spirit mediums can connect with the spirit world will be helpful.

First of all, if your child is able to see spirits or hear them, or has healing hands, then more than likely, the child is highly empathic, too. Being empathic means to be hyper-sensitive to other’s energies: such as, feeling sick to your stomach while being around someone with an intestinal upset, or feeling a headache when their mother has a migraine. Other sensations can include excitability, unknown fears, anxiety while in a shopping mall or large department store, anger, over-zealous outbursts, etc. All these things are carried through the our energy fields (auras), and a highly empathic person can feel these emotions and sensations – usually not knowing that they really belong to another person.

To understand what being empathic is, and learn to control it, will make a world of difference to you and the child. Then all the other gifts will be controlable too.

Just because you have a spiritual gift, does not mean it should be controlling you. That is backwards. But as children come to us now, they are coming in totally open to the gifts without any instruction. Most of the baby-boomers (born around 1955 or before) you might know, who are psychic or mediumistic probably had to sit for development of their gifts. (Although there are some who received their gifts as a result of near death expereinces, severe fevers, or sudden mental or physical shock.)

In this world now, the energies are so intense in the universe, and the times are so ripe for transformation, that our kids are coming into the world ready to work. However, we parents, guardians, and teachers have to step up to be their instructors – to help them understand the most advantageous manner to use their gifts correctly.

As the second (one-year) program for 2012 finalizes, two more women are certified as professional psychic mediums: Vivian Harris of Dayton, Ohio, and Susan Williams of Crooksville, Ohio. They have made a major decision in their lives to expand who they are and how they envision their future in the metaphysical world.

Harris and Williams have participated in and completed the requirements for full certification in Off the Beaten Path Intuitive Art’s Program for Professional Psychic/Mediums. The program was implemented and facilitated by Reverend Melissa Leath in 2011, and structured around her latest book, Psychic Integrity, The Respected Practice of Modern-Day Mystics (Balboa Press, division of Hay House Publishing).

The preparation of the program was in the making for three years as Leath pulled over 30 years of experience into four levels of study: (1) Spiritual Awakening, covering grounding and foundational concepts, development meditation, and self-exploration; (2) Psychic Awareness, understanding earth vibrations, energy exercises, working with auras and energy fields; (3) Mental Mediumship, direct vibrational messages, public presentation and polishing, getting ready for responsibility and gallery demonstration; and, (4) Professional Psychic-Medium, understanding and incorporating your gift into service, creating your own reality, living your spiritual understanding, and preparing for professional work with the public.

The program included not only four workshops throughout the year, but also had mandatory accumulation of student study points. This was in the form of volunteer outreach in the field of metaphysics, verifiable attendance in other classes and workshops with reports, research and essays, critiques of other practitioners and experiences, practice readings, and notes on meditations. The year was full of purposeful study, so it was a specific plan of work in the spiritual and metaphysical fields.

Susan Williams has worked with spirit energy and those who have passed over for her entire life, and has recently decided to pursue this area of expertise more diligently. She has participated in many workshops and classes in the metaphysical and holistic areas. Her interest is around grief counseling and verification of life after death. She is following her interest in volunteer hospice serve, after being involved as an emergency medical specialist providing care for the sick or injured in emergency medical settings. Williams also works closely with psychic energies of animals and pets.
