“I Ain’t Afraid of No Ghosts!” Ghostbusters and Dan Aykroyd

Guess what? There are whispers of a new Ghostbuster movie, and it looks as if it is in the works. But somehow is taking longer than usual. Not sure why, but maybe producer/director conflicts.

Dan Aykroyd announced a few months into 2012 that Bill Murray was not going to appear in Ghostbusters III, and at this point the film had been indefinitely suspended. Harold Ramis (who is part of the writing team with Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg) said that the four main cast members from the original film may have minor on-screen roles: “The concept is that the old Ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity”. Aykroyd said Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis felt there had to be a way to do it without Murray.

Aykroyd’s comments about Murray leaving were that Stupnitsky and Eisenberg “wrote Bill the comic role of a lifetime, and the new Ghostbusters and the old are all well represented in it”; they wrote a “strong first draft”. In February 2012, Aykroyd said “The script must be perfect. We cannot release a film that is any less than that. We have more work to do.”

Dan Aykroyd originally created the role of Dr. Peter Venkman (Ghostbusters 1984) with John Belushi in mind, but had to rewrite the part for Bill Murray after Belushi died. So that particular role has had a certain “strange energy” about it from the beginning.

One of the best parts of the movie is the representation of ectoplasm (the special energy used by spirits and ghosts to manifest themselves). It is represented by animated slim in different parts of the film. The green ghost (Slimer) is affectionately referred to as the ghost of John Belushi. Aykroyd grew up in a spiritualist household and was able to represent many true-to-life aspects of ghosts and the spirit world.

Alas, as of February 2012, a third feature film of Ghostbusters remains in what is known as “development hell”. Development hell refers to a period of time during that this film is trapped in development. A film takes an especially long time to start production, or never does.

Since the first movie was released on June 8, 1984 and made $238,632,124 just in the United States, and the American Film Institute ranked Ghostbusters 28th in its AFI’s 100 Years…100 Laughs list of film comedies, we know that it would be a mistake NOT to finish the third chapter in the Ghostbuster saga! In this case, we must assume that Ghostbusters III will be done just on time!

For those interested in Dan Aykroyd’s family history, you may want to check out his father’s book:

A History of Ghosts:The True Story of Séances, Mediums, Ghosts, and Ghostbusters,  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005CDUNKW/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=123spiritualg-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B005CDUNKW  2009 by Peter Aykroyd. This book chronicled the family’s historical involvement in the Spiritualist Movement. Dan Aykroyd wrote the introduction and accompanied his father on a series of promotional activities. Aykroyd also read the introduction for the audio version of the book.

Blessings to you until my next post!

Psychics are Certified as Professionals – One-year program is completed

Tina Badurina and Christine Rouch

Imagine this: Two women who are looking for a broader vision to their life’s work, and a one-year program that has never been offered before.

Well these two things came together for the entire 2011 year. Tina Badurina of Columbus Ohio and Christine Rouch of Springfield Ohio participated and completed the requirements for full certification in Off the Beaten Path Intuitive Art’s Program for Professional Psychic/Mediums. The program was implemented and facilitated by Reverend Melissa Leath, and structured around her latest book, Psychic Integrity, The Respected Practice of Modern-Day Mystics (Balboa Press, division of Hay House Publishing).

The Professional Psychic Certification Program premiered in April 2011 and successfully completed February 11, 2012. The preparation of the program was in the making for three years as Leath pulled over 30 years of experience into four levels of study: (1) Spiritual Awakening, covering grounding and foundational concepts, development meditation, and self-exploration; (2) Psychic Awareness, understanding earth vibrations, energy exercises, working with auras and energy fields; (3) Mental Mediumship, direct vibrational messages, public presentation and polishing, getting ready for responsibility and gallery demonstration; and, (4) Professional Psychic-Medium, understanding and incorporating your gift into service, creating your own reality, living your spiritual understanding, and preparing for professional work with the public.

The program included not only four workshops throughout the year, but also had mandatory accumulation of student study points. This was in the form of volunteer outreach in the field of metaphysics, verifyable attendance in other classes and workshops with reports, research and essays, critiques of other practitioners and experiences, practice readings, and notes on meditations. The year was full of purposeful study, so it was a specific plan of work in the spiritual and metaphysical fields.

Reverend Leath is a Life Visionary and Spiritual Educator. Her gifts in service include mediumship, spiritual counseling, licensed minister, author and lecturer. It is a life-long dream to be able to share her experiences and learned lessons in the metaphysical and spiritual areas with others. ( http://www.MelissaLeath.com )

Tina Badurina comes from a corporate background with a high level of intuitive abilities and a strong desire to serve people in vibrational and emotional healing of all types. She is a second degree Reiki practitioner, has taken numerous classes and workshops on intuition and self-empowerment, and added strength to the program that kept integrity and love vibrating throughout.

Christine Rouch also comes from a business background and has been gifted with psychic abilities since childhood. She is a Reiki Master Teacher, has been sharing her psychic abilities and teaching the public for some time. She brought an excitement and wonder to the program that allowed us to always be vibrant.

“I am so proud of Tina and Christine in their ability to stay focused and driven in their program studies this past year. They are both gifted and talented in their own rights, and have helped create a special element that allows me to move ahead and start another program for 2012. They are now certified as professional psychics, will be of benefit to the metaphysical field and to the public as they serve.” ~~Melissa Leath

2012 Professional Psychic Certification Program is now taking registration. The pre-requisite for the program is at least one year of knowledge and use of psychic or medium abilities. Level One will be Saturday, February 25, 2012. Three other level workshops will take place in May, August and November. To register for the program, or talk to Melissa about it, please call her home-office at 937-323-5346. More information can be see at http://www.MelissaLeath.com/certification.html

The Short List of Helpful Hints on Consulting a Medium or Psychic

Here are a few things to think about beore you have a reading with a psychic or medium — or other reader, such as tarot or astrology:

  • Do you need a medium or psychic? A medium offers communication from spirit; a psychic attunes to and interprets the energy field of the sitter.
  • More money doesn’t necessarily mean better information. Service offered by a good reader is invaluable; expect to pay a reasonable rate.
  • No medium can promise communciation from a particular spirit loved one. If conditions are right and the medium is suitable for your loved-ones to link with, then, very likely, you will get what you hope to recieve.
  • Predictions: What you do tomorrow is being planned spiritually today. The energy of that plan is in the aura; but the future is not etched in stone.
  • Maintain your own power. Spirit loved-ones wish to communicate to let you know they are OK and that there is life after death. Then, to guide and inspire, not to tell you about career, romance, and finances.
  • Know when to stop. Just as there is addiction to alcohol and gambling, consulting a reader can cause dependency and obsession. Also, if the reader is suggesting you come back weekly, know that there is something else going on. There could not possibly ber more to cover in a week’s time.

A good reading can be a very beneficial thing and should assist you through any concerns in your life and possible future endeavors. It should cover at least a six-month period, if not a year.

If you are dealing with a special problem, such as grief or a developing situation, then you may require several sesions. This would certainly be considered a spiritual counseling rather than mediumistic communicatin with a departed loved one. To get more information about readings, what to look for, or how it works please get my book, Psychic Integrity, The REspected Practice of Modern-Day Mystics. http://www.PsychicIntegrity.com

What Is The Spirit World, Anyway?

 Understanding the Levels of Spirit

Seeing into the Heavens

Seeing into the Heavens

As you grow up from a small child into adulthood, you are always introduced to the term, heaven. Normally, it is when a close loved one dies and your parents try to explain to you about the passing of life. They really don’t know what it is or how to describe it. It usually ends up being a lovely place we all go when our bodies die. And Grandma is now an angel.

But over the years, we begin to believe heaven or the spiritual world is the only higher level of vibration separate from the physical world: all spirits in the spirit world are highly evolved beings. Quite often, while discussing this work, generalities are made. Psychic readers talk about “the material world” or “the spirit world”. This is very limiting. It completely leaves out the majority of layers that represent the vibrations of spirit.

The world of spirit is used to convey all frequencies including that of loved ones who have died. But we tend to only think of our grandparents in the spirit world. The world of spirit is very vast and includes lower as well as, higher entities. You may be aware of angels and spirit guides in the reachable spirit realm of existence.

There are also expanded levels (or other heavens) with archangels and other highly evolved entities unreachable to mere mortals, such as in the Un-Manifest, Expressive, Causal, Mental, and Emotional Planes.

These planes do not need what we know as the laws of physics. Space and time do not exist outside of the physical world. Those of us in the body are the only ones who maneuver in the third dimension, and have no concept of what it would be like not to live here.

We are all part of one huge, dimensionless object made of things not of this world. Yet they are manifested in the elements of solid, liquid, gas and the ethers so we may live and understand them with physical recognition.

Our bodies are alive because they are temporarily inspirited within a time and space window. Our souls are eternally alive because they are eternally inspirited, part of the infinite existence of all.

As our awareness expands in life with the experiences we are having, we begin to see life as a whole: The wholeness of all of creation and interconnection with All. This symbolizes our idea of total consciousness.

Chain of Command

To be able to understand how Spirit Communication works, it is first important to understand the different levels of spirit. This is something that is rarely spoken of or taught. A large number of readers, whether they are psychics or mediums, may not have any concept of where they are getting their information. To them, especially if there was no instruction, spirit is spirit and it must all be good. Nothing could be further from the truth.

To me, it could be risky not understanding the chain of command. As explained earlier, there are many trickster spirits in other realms and astral energies representing them selves as well known Biblical personalities, historical figures and even entertainers. These impersonators actually get their kicks by making you think they are who they say they are.

Psychic Integrity, by Melissa Leath

While I talked to a client of my husband’s (Charles is a Reflexologist), she asked me how my new book was coming. I told her I was in the final editing ~~that’s right!~~ Psychic Integrity will be ready for reading in September if not sooner!

She asked if the book was similar to my other recent books (Meditation, Plain and Simple Workbook, and Outrageous Living). I smiled and said a definite NO.

She said, “Well, then, what is it about?”

Psychic Integrity is a guidebook for psychic readers and mediums, both novices and seasoned readers. Many readers may not have a mentor or spiritual teacher for continued studies so they really don’t know where the information comes from, or what vibrational level they are working from.

Their clients will benefit from this book too. Too often, people don’t know who to go to for a reading or what kind of reading to get. They don’t realize they have the opportunity to interview the reader first to see if they are comfortable with that person.

This book gives Readers and Clients many tools to use in making decisions and working from integrity.

There are so many fascinating things that go on during the psychic/medium consultation, you’d be surprised. More on that soon…
