  • Excessive Empathy Can Over-Ground You: Is This a Real Thing?

    Recently someone commented on an interesting sensation he was having. He felt he was overly grounded. It sounds like a good thing, right? But he was concerned that it prevented him from being as ethereally or spiritually connected as he usually was. He could not connect as easily with his Spiritual Self/ Higher Spirit Entities, and attributed it to being (maybe too) empathic, and “feeling” all the global events so intensely. He feels he has regressed in his development of connecting with mystical knowing and ethereal experiences. Almost like it has been turned off.

    The state of global events is obviously very overpowering now. Even folks who do not know what being empathic/ hyper-sensitive to energy and vibrations means are becoming upset and breaking down emotionally. It is impacting everyone on the planet. All vibration creates a corresponding action that influences people, places, things, and other events on the other side of the world.

    This is how I might explain it:
    Have you ever been in a very deep sleep and then suddenly wake up from a startling noise? Your spirit jumps back into the body before it is really ready. And you feel completely unconnected – detached – from your physical body. It sometimes takes you the rest of the day to get back to feeling “normal”.

    In a way, this is what has been happening to us, only while we are awake. The events of the recent days and months have been so intense, they have actually jerked us to a more “concentrated awake-ness”. We had to become aware of the world we live in. It has been smacked up in our face. Instead of being tethered to the Earth – flying gleefully in the spirit-realm, we must integrate balance within our triune beings. After all, we are here on Earth – the third dimension — to experience Life.

    Experiences like that bring you back to reality (physical reality, that is). Recently my husband Charles and I were driving back home from a leisurely ride in the country. As we were entering the city limits, a car veered right in front of us to make a turn. It seemed they did not even see us coming from the opposite direct. Thanks to Charles’ quick reflexes and expert driving skills, he stomped on the brakes, keeping control of our vehicle while it swerved. We skidded, and missed the car by only several feet. We both were visibly shaken. But as a result of that near-miss, what was most remarkable was that we were totally in our bodies. We were totally aware of our surroundings: sights, smells, sounds. We began to breathe deeply.

    The state of the global community is keeping us grounded — through empathic experiences. And I also have the sense that it is imperative right now for as many of us to remain calm, aware (grounded), and heart centered; fully integrated in body/ mind/ spirit. Being aware of our surroundings right now is much more important than being ethereally connected.

    Some quick tips to help you in these trying times

    1. Remember to breathe. This keeps your brain working at top power. Then reasoning and logic- thinking is easier when you need it.
    2. Connect with people you know deeply and love.
    3. Be aware of news events, but do not live there. Small doses are all you need. When you become too engrossed in it, then you lose touch with reality. You miss the important parts of your life.
    4. Continue to meditate and connect with your inner self. This is where peace is found.
    5. Smile and know that All is Right in Your World.
