Spirit Awareness

What Are Your Levels of Awareness?

Everyone has some kind of intuitive ability. Everyone is aware, on some level, of spirit; they are aware of those who passed away hovering close by; of impressions of people, places and things. Everyone has feelings about, or knows certain events before they happen.

Becoming intuitively aware is the main reason to develop or unfold. This awareness helps with personal and spiritual growth and understanding.

The only reason you may not be aware of things intuitively is that your life-style may have squeezed intuition out of your awareness. It is still there, but you may be so overcome by your duties in this world, you are not paying attention to the soft murmurs of your inner self.

It is easy to get wrapped up in the physical world. Society readily stresses the physical and mental components of our lives. As a result, the spiritual aspect of life has been diminished.

As humans, we live in three different levels: body, mind and spirit. Leaving out one section creates an imbalance. Not having enough time for one of these means your life is lacking one-third of its existence.

Life is not just the day-to-day events. It is a complex maze of experiences and learning how to deal with them; impressions and expressions, feelings and emotions, physical interactions with people, and making sense of it all.

When born, humans are fully connected with spirit and the inner self. Over the next two to three years, young children become deprogrammed from the spirit side of life and programmed into the third dimension. Most things known on the soul level is stripped away as they are indoctrinated into the physical dimension of earth.

Parents and loved ones begin their mission to help the child understand what earth is all about. The child becomes more distant from their inner soul understandings. Soon the true self is just a dream or image almost lost in the transition into the physical. “…the day of death (is) better than the day of birth,” according to the book Ecclesiastes 7:1, from the Old Testament. This has been commonly expressed in the saying “weep at a birth, and have joy at a death.” This must refer to all the good, although misguided intentions thrust on a baby. Eventually, the child loses all conscious contact with the strongest energy there is. Joy at death refers to flowing back and reuniting with what was known, but lost. Why did we forget? It was the human thing to do. But now, we realize there is something to remember.

Since we had a mask put over our eyes when we entered this world, we need to take time to reconnect with our spirit selves. That is why it is good to gather friends with like interests to sit together for unfoldment.

Negative Energy Cleansing: The Loving Way

House Cleansings

I have been asked several times recently about clearing a house of negative energies or spirits. Although there are many ways to accomplish this I feel obliged to share the information that was given many years ago about this cleansing.

I do not profess to be Native American in any way, shape, or form. But I have learned some of the teachings, as well as other cultures dealing with cleansing sweeps. American Native culture is not the only one that uses cleansing for energetic purification.

The Greeks, for instance, many years ago burned sulphur and other minerals after fasting and silence to bring a cleansing about for ceremonial purposes. They say this pulled the veils between the worlds to facilitate clear communications with spirit guidance and knowledge.

As I understand, if you are cleansing with sage alone, then all you are doing is sealing in the vibrational energy already there. So allow me to offer this alternative as one of the proper ways to clear energies from a home —
Before the Cleansing: Sacred tobacco is one of the most sacred of plants for Native people. It is used as the main activator of all plants. Tobacco is offered before picking (and in some cases before using) plant medicines. When you offer tobacco to a plant and explain your reasons for being there, the plant will let all the plants in the area know your intentions, why you are picking them. Tobacco is used first as an offering for everything and in every ceremony. (In Native American ceremony, you would offer tobacco to the Elder leading the ceremony, along with an honoring gift. This announces your intention to the Elders.)

* Cleanse and purify yourself, before proceeding with any clearing. Then continue in a state of Love and Gratitude.

Step 1. Using Cedar (shavings), go through your house from the front door, through each room, saying your prayers or intentions, inviting all energies and vibrations that are lower than yours, and not compatible to your home to leave in love. Suggest they find a more suitable location for their highest interest. Bless them on their ways. As you go through your home, lead your way through to the front door, which intends the entities to leave the space. (Be sure to include all closets, basement, etc.)

Step 2. Using Sweetgrass (which is usually braided), go through your home in the same manner. Now invite all loving energies and high vibrations, which are compatible to your home to now take residence if they wish.

Step 3. Using Sage, go through your home, again in the same manner, ask all loving and sweet energies to stay and protect your space. The Sage actually seals in the energy now.

(There are many ways to accomplish a clearing of energy or cleansing. This technique is one of them. I honor and respect all ways.)

Here is Melissa Leath’s Presentation~~

The Fundamentals of Psychic Kids: The How, What and Why of Guiding Children with Psychic Gifts

Many children are coming to this world already open to Spirit and fully loaded with psychic and healing abilities. Some of them are known as Indigo or Crystal Children. Now it is our opportunity to assist them in grounding these gifts and understand how beneficial they can be.

In this presentation, we will discuss how we can be supportive parents/teachers and to nurture our psychic children. You will be exposed to awareness games, inter-active exercises, and other ways to empower your child, and encourage them to develop a close relationship with their Higher Self and spirit guides. Melissa shares how she has assisted children, teens and young adults.

By attending this presentation you will:

  • Know the four behaviors displayed early in life by children who could potentially have psychic abilities: are these the Indigo Children?
  • Find ways to help your child understand and be in control of the gift to use it properly, and create an atmosphere for your child to develop their creative and spiritual gifts.
  • Learn about children seeing orbs and sparkles, how they can create “boundaries,” and open and close their energy fields at will.
  • Understand ways to address possible fear and misunderstanding concerning what is happening.
  • Learn from Melissa’s own experiences to help understand your child’s situation, and gain exercises and techniques that will help solidify the gifts so the child will feel more confident.

BOOK REVIEW: Grace, Guidance, and Gifts. Sacred Blessings to Light Your Way, by Sonia Choquette

As I am writing this review, I am also listening to the CD that accompanies this book: such a wonderful tool! I am taken to a place of calm and relaxation. It follows the three sacred blessings of Spirit that Choquette mentions in her book:  Grace, Guidance, and Gifts. The CD is about 17 minutes long, and is perfect to play as going to sleep at night.

Even though I have never read any of Sonia Choquette’s books, I have studied some of her articles and exercises found on the internet and her website (http://www.soniachoquette.com).  And I have found her information on psychic abilities and intuition to be very powerful and enlightening. So it is not a surprise to me that this book would be such a great asset to spiritual study.

Many of us today are self-taught Light workers. That is to say, there are many people who have not studied with a group of people under the tutelage of a spiritual teacher. And since there are so many books and resources such as this one, it is easy to have your own home study. I have encouraged many of my own psychic development students to have sacred time for themselves every day. This helps to raise the personal frequency of the energy field (aura). In doing so, it is easier to access your personal spirit teachers, guides, and angels. But more important, it helps you to access your own Higher Self.

Choquette’s Grace, Guidance, and Gifts is a superb way to create or supplement sacred time and spiritual self-study. By using the book every day, you continue to contact Source through the Higher Self to receive Blessings in your life. She has the book divided into three sections: Grace, Guidance, and Gifts. With each section, there are prayers, a morning blessing, mantra for the day, and a personal message to speak out loud. Each section has about three weeks’ worth of daily study, and you can open the book at random to access each day. Or follow through from one day to the next taking in the book, step by step. The book is not meant to be read straight through, but to be savored as you progress through your studies.

If you are considering starting your own sacred time and studies, wanting to have some spiritual discipline to your life, you would very much benefit from this book. However, her understanding here includes much of the Christian belief. So know ahead of time, if you are opposed to that particular teaching.

“I Ain’t Afraid of No Ghosts!” Ghostbusters and Dan Aykroyd

Guess what? There are whispers of a new Ghostbuster movie, and it looks as if it is in the works. But somehow is taking longer than usual. Not sure why, but maybe producer/director conflicts.

Dan Aykroyd announced a few months into 2012 that Bill Murray was not going to appear in Ghostbusters III, and at this point the film had been indefinitely suspended. Harold Ramis (who is part of the writing team with Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg) said that the four main cast members from the original film may have minor on-screen roles: “The concept is that the old Ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity”. Aykroyd said Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis felt there had to be a way to do it without Murray.

Aykroyd’s comments about Murray leaving were that Stupnitsky and Eisenberg “wrote Bill the comic role of a lifetime, and the new Ghostbusters and the old are all well represented in it”; they wrote a “strong first draft”. In February 2012, Aykroyd said “The script must be perfect. We cannot release a film that is any less than that. We have more work to do.”

Dan Aykroyd originally created the role of Dr. Peter Venkman (Ghostbusters 1984) with John Belushi in mind, but had to rewrite the part for Bill Murray after Belushi died. So that particular role has had a certain “strange energy” about it from the beginning.

One of the best parts of the movie is the representation of ectoplasm (the special energy used by spirits and ghosts to manifest themselves). It is represented by animated slim in different parts of the film. The green ghost (Slimer) is affectionately referred to as the ghost of John Belushi. Aykroyd grew up in a spiritualist household and was able to represent many true-to-life aspects of ghosts and the spirit world.

Alas, as of February 2012, a third feature film of Ghostbusters remains in what is known as “development hell”. Development hell refers to a period of time during that this film is trapped in development. A film takes an especially long time to start production, or never does.

Since the first movie was released on June 8, 1984 and made $238,632,124 just in the United States, and the American Film Institute ranked Ghostbusters 28th in its AFI’s 100 Years…100 Laughs list of film comedies, we know that it would be a mistake NOT to finish the third chapter in the Ghostbuster saga! In this case, we must assume that Ghostbusters III will be done just on time!

For those interested in Dan Aykroyd’s family history, you may want to check out his father’s book:

A History of Ghosts:The True Story of Séances, Mediums, Ghosts, and Ghostbusters,  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005CDUNKW/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=123spiritualg-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B005CDUNKW  2009 by Peter Aykroyd. This book chronicled the family’s historical involvement in the Spiritualist Movement. Dan Aykroyd wrote the introduction and accompanied his father on a series of promotional activities. Aykroyd also read the introduction for the audio version of the book.

Blessings to you until my next post!

Karma and Divine Source

I like to think of karma as a way of clearing or balancing life experiences. It is a way of evening out and learning fully from the experience of imperfections. I don’t believe it is a “get even” kind of punishment doled out by the universe or a vengeful God. But it is an opportunity to understand from all points of view about situations in life.

You know, if we are so bold as to venture out and become involved in a certain condition, then we are opening ourselves up to experience it fully. It is our obligation or responsibility to complete the cycle of learning through the complete experience.

Imagine, if you will, the very beginning of everything in the universe; only the beginning.  Pretend, just for a minute that nothing else exists yet. The beginning is a place that does not recognize the third dimension as we know it.  The third dimension has not even been created.  There are no layers of existence yet. This would be the point where there was only “pure potentiality” as Wayne Dyer calls it. This is the point from which all things are created. It is the point where there is freshness, perfection and total love.  It is love without exception.   It is love without condition.

The Divine Source (or what many call God, some even refer to as Zero Point) is the beginning place of creation.  Divine Source only recognizes perfection.  So if there is experience that stems from Divine Source, then it must be a perfect experience.

Let’s think of a logical way of understanding it. Imagine a piece of paper. The piece of paper is a representation of Divine Source: perfection. We also will imagine that someone draws a mark on the piece of paper with a crayon.

We’ll say that Mary sees a straight line. But when Bob looks at it, he sees a curve. Susan looks at it too and sees a blue streak. Stan however sees a red scratch.

But in reality, there is only a piece of paper. Anything else that is added to it or embellished on it does not change what it is. It is a piece of paper.

Now, Mary still insists that it is a straight line and starts to tell her family about the straight line. Just by planting the idea of a straight line, everyone she tells about it, sees the same things she does: a straight line.

An error in perception has just begun. But the story continues, because it is already implanted in the thoughts of family. So one of Mary’s family members talks to Susan (remember, she sees a blue streak). Although see only saw a blue streak to start with, she might even begin to see it as a blue straight line.

On and on the perceptions go, always adding something else, until the original piece of paper is marked up with all kinds of colors and blotches. The piece of paper is almost undistinguishable.

The reality of the situation is that the piece of paper is still a piece of paper. It is not a straight line, or a curve or a blue streak or red scratch. The thing has not changed, only the perception of it has changed by inaccurate thinking.

This happens much of the time in life, in all societies, all around the world. Every human being starts out as a divine plan of perfection – straight from the Source.  But while living our lives, we take on agreements to access the full experience of the situations we become involved in. So we are taking on the karmic agreement. During this time other people perceive us in certain ways that generate through years and years of mistaken thought. Sometimes our family beliefs are a composite of flawed perceptions. And we lose contact with the original perfection.

The best way I see to complete the karmic agreement without having to experience the full power of it, is to accept the responsibility of the situation. Accept that we are seeing it in error, or at least, we are not seeing the perfection of it.

It is important to allow ourselves to be responsible to see the perfection and the mistake that was incurred over generations. Then we can forgive the mistake.  We allow it to be perfect again. We clear all imperfection from the experience, so it can go back to the Source concept, its original state of being.

There is a wonderful affirmation that Louise Hay, author of You Can Heal Your Life, shares with us: “I am willing to change. I am willing to forgive.” It gives us an opportunity to at least consider the possibility that there can forgiveness through responsible action.

Psychic Abilities Using Psychometry

When I am teaching a class on psychic development, I like to introduce the technique known as “psychometry” to the participants to use and they will always receive a response that is verifiable. Psychometry is a form of psychic divination using the sense of touch. You can receive intuitive impressions and information about an object, or anything connected to it, by touching it. The physical sense of touch then shifts into ultrasense™ which is the spiritual sense of feeling.

What it is:

“Psychometry is picking up or reading the energy of an object (such as keys or jewelry) by holding it in your hand. You can sense the vibrations emanating from it. The energy patterns of the object are downloaded into the reader’s subtle bodies. The memories contained in the object are accessed by the subconscious mind and raised to conscious awareness.

“The reader receives information about the history of the object. If someone had it in their possession for a long period of time, you can receive information about that person as well.

“Psychometry can be used to heighten the contact with someone’s vibration during a reading. Many readers use this
method as a tool along with their main area of expertise. It also can be used in connect with others at a distance. I have successfully used this method to assist contacting the spirit of a recently departed teenager, receiving critical information for locating the body.”

~~taken from Psychic Integrity, Ethics and Morals of Modern-Day Mystics

Psychometry is a term described in parapsychology as a psi (or psychic) ability. The person using psychometry is able to connect with and relate details about the past condition of an object or area, or events experienced by the person who possessed the object. The user could, for example, give police precise details about a murder or other violent crime, if they were at the crime scene, or were holding the weapon used. Psychometry is a type of retro cognition.

Psychometry opens the practitioner to bursts of energy and/or memories (both negative and positive) that have left imprints on an object or place. For instance, a house where a traumatic experience happened, such as a murder or suicide, may feel distinctly chilled or negative; while a favorite childhood toy or play area may feel light or positive. A place or thing may be so charged with emotions and memories that it may even seem haunted.

As we exist in an electromagnetic programmed reality – metal objects work best. This refers to keys, jewelry, etc. However, all objects carry a frequency signature. The vibrations vary and can be recognized through psychic means. When doing psychometry, you attempt to connect your frequencies with the object in question.

How to do it:

The Basic Use of Psychometry

Here is a great exercise for you to practice to get a feel for what psychometry is. It’s best to start out by yourself in a quiet, light meditative state.

Put these items in a box or basket: rocks, crystals, treebark, fabric, tissue paper, plastic, or an assortment of other inanimate objects. Everything in the universe has a vibratory rate – animate and inanimate. That is what renders its manifested form. Denser objects have slower, heavier vibrations. Thinner, softer or more porous objects have a faster or higher vibration.

Clear your mind and take an item out of the basket. Hold it in your hand and sense what it is and where it came from. The feeling you are
looking for is not a tactile feeling, but a sense or impression.

Go with your first impressions. Become aware of the different vibrations, special feelings and impressions. They are very subtle at first. So if you think you feel something, you do. Trust it and say it out loud. This exercise can be practiced at home during your meditative times.

After you get used to using this exercise, you can feel confident to move ahead and explore other uses of psychometry. In another article I will explain a more detailed approach to the practice that will allow you to share information with someone you wish to psychically read for.

Until then, enjoy your new abilities of exploring subtle energies!
